Registration is now open for all three Credit Union Development Education (DE) training classes in 2014. This will be the first time three DE Trainings are held in a single year, with the first program taking place January in Chapel Hill, N.C. followed by trainings in April and September in Madison, Wis. Attendees of the National Credit Union Foundation’s (NCUF) six-day total immersion experience will learn about credit unions’ social responsibility and domestic and international development through interactive education and professional networking.
“There is such a demand right now for DE Training that we’ve decided to hold an additional training next year in North Carolina,” said Lois Kitsch, NCUF’s National Program Director. “The past few programs have been filling up months ahead of time and we also realize the positive impact that even more DE Training alumni can have on the credit union movement.”
The next training is September 4-11, 2013 in Madison, Wis. and has been sold out since June of this year.
After attending the last training in May of 2013, David Paltza, Real Estate Loan Officer at Eagle Community Credit Union in Lake Forest, Calif., said, “For me, the DE experience was legendary! It did more than change my life, it revolutionized it, as I bonded with CEOs and frontline employees alike. Through case studies, life simulations, and team projects, my eyes were opened to the greater credit union movement, exploring everything from its history, to philosophy, to legislative advocacy. I certainly didn’t return home the same way I came and I am honored to join the ranks of passionate individuals and organizations who continue to impact the world through the cooperative movement.”
The first DE training will take place January 22-29, 2014 at the Rizzo Conference Center, which is by the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill, N.C. The next two trainings will be held April 23-30, 2014 and September 10-17, 2014 at The Lowell Center, which is part of the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, Wis. This is also the first time that registration for all the year’s DE trainings are open at the same time as opposed to only being able to register for the earliest upcoming training.
