Real Solutions - A National Credit Union Foundation Program

From CUNA News Now – Low-income credit unions can now apply for a total of $1.18 million in grants to help support their financial literacy, product development, collaboration, staff and board member training, office relocation and computer modernization efforts, the National Credit Union Administration said on Tuesday, 5/21.

The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) is inviting credit union organizations to hold a “Financially Fit Day” on April 3, 2013 to kick off National Financial Literacy Month. This fundraising day is part of a relatively new campaign, entitled “Credit Unions Support Financial Education: Leading the Way to Financial Freedom.”

Credit unions looking for outreach activities this April, National Financial Literacy Month, have a few new resources to tap into thanks to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) and the Texas Credit Union Foundation (TCUF). The two foundations have developed a new initiative, entitled “Credit Unions Support Financial Education: Leading the Way to Financial Freedom” and is being piloted in California, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas by state credit union foundations in each state.

NCUA recently announced a new opportunity for grant funding. Eligible low-income credit unions may apply for the Financial Education and Financial Literacy Initiative to encourage financial literacy and education training in collaboration with schools, community organizations, and financial institutions.
